What to Expect at Maidstone

Armstrong Road DTC Roundabout
The roundabout on Armstrong Road immediately outside the test centre is used on every route. You will pass through it at the very start and end of every test — practise your approach and exit in both directions, as routes depart left on some tests and continue ahead on others.

Postley Road, Sheals Crescent & Mote Avenue Mini Roundabout Chain
Postley Road and Sheals Crescent feed into a series of mini roundabouts used on most routes, including the busy junction at Mote Avenue. These mini roundabouts are closely spaced — treat each as a live junction and do not allow the previous one to distract your observation of the next.

Square Hill Road, Mote Avenue & West Park Road Roundabouts
Square Hill Road, Mote Avenue, and West Park Road form a roundabout cluster used on routes heading north and east. Some routes use these roundabouts twice — once outbound and once on return. The required exits differ each time, so read instructions carefully.

Loose Road & Sutton Road Southern Suburbs
Routes heading south use Loose Road and Sutton Road — busier A-roads with traffic lights and more complex junction layouts including Brishing Lane roundabout and the Wallis Avenue area. Approach speeds are higher than the residential streets — adjust your speed and observation distance accordingly.

Old Tovil Road, Courtenay Road & Brenchley Road Residential
Several routes use the Old Tovil Road, Courtenay Road, and Brenchley Road residential network south-west of the DTC. A small roundabout at Courtenay Road connects these streets to Postley Road — keep your speed low through the residential sections and observe junctions well in advance.
