Western Road is the primary artery of every route, used to leave and return to the test centre on all 12 tests. A roundabout on Western Road feeds the Pennygillam Way industrial estate and the A30 slip roads — know your required exit in advance as routes diverge in multiple directions here.

Pennygillam Way & Quarry Crescent
Pennygillam Way and its roundabouts are used on most routes heading south and west. The loop through Quarry Crescent is a tight residential detour used on many tests — follow it precisely, as the road ends at Pennygillam Way requiring a correct roundabout exit back onto the main network.

A30 Slip Roads & Dual Carriageway
Multiple routes use the A30 dual carriageway via on and off slip roads, often in both directions within a single test. This faster road environment demands confident lane discipline, prompt merging, and decisive exit selection — check mirrors early and signal clearly well before each slip road junction.

Tavistock Road Double Roundabout
The double roundabout on Tavistock Road is a distinctive feature used on most routes.
