What to Expect at Forfar
- With 5.0 roundabouts per route on average, Forfar is more roundabout-intensive than most UK centres. Route 4 has the highest concentration with 9, including Brechin Rd.

Brechin Road / Kirriemuir Road roundabout pair
Brechin Road is the most-used road in the test area and several routes take you over the bridge via the Kirriemuir Road roundabout. The instructions describe it as "roundabout ahead, roundabout right, over bridge, roundabout right" — count carefully and don't let the bridge distract your exit planning.

A90 dual carriageway slip roads (Dundee / Aberdeen direction)
Routes 2, 4, 5 and 7 take you onto the A90 dual carriageway and its slip roads. If you're not used to dual carriageways, this is the part to practise. You need to build speed on the slip road and merge confidently, then use the correct exit at the A90 roundabouts on the return.

Castle Street / Academy Street town centre roundabouts
The Castle Street and Academy Street roundabouts in the town centre come up on five routes and are often back-to-back. It's a busy commercial area with pedestrians and parked vehicles, so stay focused on your roundabout decisions even when there's other activity around you.

Glamis Road / A90 roundabout (south approach)
The larger roundabout at Glamis Road linking to the A90 southbound appears on five routes. It's approached at a faster speed than the town centre roundabouts and you'll need to select your exit from the slip road approach — treat it more like a bypass roundabout than an urban one.

Arbroath Road / Prior Road / North Street town entry
Arbroath Road leads directly into the town centre and is used on eight routes. The junction with Prior Road near the DTC, and the traffic lights on North Street and Arbroath Road, are assessed at the start and end of most tests — exactly when your nerves are at their peak.
