Most routes use two or three consecutive roundabouts on Riccarton Mains Road before returning to Bryce Road. You'll need to select the correct exit at each one in quick succession — this is a common fault location, especially under pressure near the end of the test.

Dreghorn Link / City Bypass junction
Several routes leave Currie via the A720 City Bypass slip road and rejoin via the Dreghorn Link roundabouts. Watch your lane discipline on the dual carriageway merge and be ready for the back-to-back roundabouts on Dreghorn Link — you'll need to position early for both.

Calder Road multi-roundabout chain (A71)
On routes that use Calder Road you'll face three or more roundabouts in a row. Make sure you're checking your mirrors before each one and committing to your exit — hesitating in the middle of the chain is one of the most common faults here.

Lanark Road traffic lights (Baberton / Kingsknowe)
Lanark Road is the most-used road on this test and has several sets of traffic lights, including the junction at Baberton Avenue and the crossings near Kingsknowe. Get into the correct lane early and keep your observations smooth — the examiner will be watching closely on this stretch.

Wester Hailes Road roundabout (Clovenstone / Murrayburn)
The cluster of roundabouts around Wester Hailes Road, Murrayburn Road and Clovenstone Road comes up regularly. The mini roundabout at Murrayburn is particularly compact — if you come in too fast or forget to give way you're likely to pick up a fault here.
