Both routes take you down into Newtonmore, join the A9 northbound, and return to Kingussie via the slip road. Joining the A9 requires confident speed-matching — build your speed on the slip road and merge before it runs out. The left turn off the A9 back towards Kingussie comes up quickly after joining, so be ready for it.

Kingussie High Street traffic lights
The Kingussie High Street traffic lights appear on both routes. On the approach from Ardbroilach Road or from King Street you need to get into the correct lane for your onward turn before the lights — the road is narrow and there's little room to adjust at the last moment.

Newtonmore High Street / Glen Road / Church Terrace residential loop
Both routes navigate through Newtonmore via Glen Road and Church Terrace before rejoining the B9150 towards the A9. These are quiet residential streets but the junctions are unmarked — take your time at each one and don't assume right of way just because the road feels empty.
