The Boulevard / Margate Road Flyover roundabout (DTC)
Every test starts and ends navigating The Boulevard and the Margate Road flyover roundabout. On the outbound leg routes go "left 1st exit, left 1st exit, right 3rd exit" in sequence — three roundabouts almost immediately. Know these exits before your test because getting one wrong here sets the wrong tone for everything that follows.

Broomfield Slip Road / Canterbury Road roundabout sequence
Broomfield Slip Road and Canterbury Road roundabouts appear together on most outbound routes. These often come back-to-back and require different exits, so read each sign individually rather than assuming the pattern continues. The approach along Margate Road can be faster than expected.

Thanet Way / Greenhill Bridge Road roundabouts
The Thanet Way and Greenhill Bridge Road roundabouts are used on eight routes. These are larger roundabouts on the A299 approach and require more confident approach speeds and earlier signalling than the smaller residential roundabouts in the town centre.

Reculver Road / A299 dual carriageway section
Routes 5, 7, 8 and 11 use the A299 and the Reculver Road area via slip roads. When joining or leaving the A299 you need to build speed on the slip road and merge or exit confidently. Several routes also venture along the rural Reculver Road which has narrow sections and limited passing places.

Sea Street / Avenue Road / The High Street town centre
Sea Street, Avenue Road and The High Street are used on ten or more routes and form the main town centre corridor. The back streets here have multiple side turnings in quick succession — count them carefully and don't confuse the town centre one-way layout.
